Owl Tower
Acrylic paint on birch cradled board

This 8" x 8" painting tied for third place (adult category) and won the People's Choice award at a small local all-ages art show.

Ravenwood
Acrylic paint on birch cradled board

This painting won first place (adult category) at the same art show as Owl Tower.

Generations
Oil on canvas

This painting is of my grandmother holding one of her many great-grandchildren. I gave it to her as a birthday gift.

Sky Music
Acrylic paint on watercolor paper

This image was inspired by a sunset I photographed from the backyard.

Bodacious
Acrylic paint on watercolor paper

This was painted from a photo I took out in our family nursery's dahlia field.

Older

Heavenward
Mixed-media on watercolor paper

For this piece, I traced a photograph, then filled it in using acrylic and watercolor paint, ink pens, and markers.

Coffee and Inspiration: Early Flowers
Mixed-media on watercolor paper

This series of mixed-media pieces was my first real experience with "still-life", and I had a lot of fun posing the objects to create the best composition. I used mugs with real, steaming coffee in them.
Each composition was photographed, traced onto paper via a light-box, and filled in.

Coffee and Inspiration: Summer Fruits
Mixed-media on watercolor paper

The joke with this composition is that it was done during the winter, so I had to run to look in the fridge, and I was glad to find some fresh fruit.

Coffee and Inspiration: Autumn Scent
Mixed-media on watercolor paper

A piece for my favorite season. On the ink bottle label, I added a little raven. They and their crow cousins are a constant presence here, but I associate them with autumn.

Coffee and Inspiration: Winter Birds
Mixed-media on watercolor paper

There's a seagull on the mug, and a seagull feather on the side.

Fingerprints
Photo and mixed-media collage

Looking closely at this collage, you may find the semi-hidden image looks familiar. The inspiration behind the piece was the idea that God leaves His fingerprints all over His Creation. In the center are human fingerprints.

Winter Sun
Oil paint on canvas

This piece was done as a gift for my mom. A "special effect" I tried on it was outlining the rays of the sun and the shiniest parts of the snow with a pinkish color, which intensified the light.

A Glimpse of Eden
Oil paint on canvas

This piece was based on a scene from the Portland Japanese Garden...but I found out after I painted it!

Fennec Fox
Oil paint on canvas

This painting won a 2nd place award in a teen art show at my local library, and opened an opportunity for me to join the Wy'east Artisans Guild, which has had a lot of impact on my artistic life. I came very close to offering it for sale at my first art show--and indeed, one lady asked if she could buy it--but it just had too much history. It remains one of the best pieces I've ever done.

Bear and Otter
Pencil drawing on paper

My late grandpa saw a cute photo in the newspaper and asked me to draw it...here, the result.

Journey
Mixed-media on paper

This piece was inspired by the allegorical novel, Hinds Feet on High Places, by Hannah Hurnard.
